Vol. II, No. 19 Anthony Pirozzi recalls playing baseball for the “Peck Park Giants”

With baseball back at bat, hear Los Angeles Harbor Commissioner Anthony Pirozzi recount playing baseball on the Peck Park Giants team and earned his lifelong nickname “Yogi” or “Yog” – pron. Yoge) ; and the fun family day that surrounded the games. As proud father of three sons (with wife Carolyn) Anthony carried on the baseball tradition being immensely involved with local Eastview Little League (EVLL).

Born and raised in San Pedro, Anthony Pirozzi (Jr.) is a proud San Pedro High School graduate, awarded his bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering technology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a master’s degree in engineering from Loyola Marymount University.

He currently serves as the director of systems integration, test and launch organization at the Boeing Satellite Development Center, building and launching communication satellites. He will be retiring this year. He was appointed to the L.A. Board of Harbor Commissioners by Mayor Eric Garcetti and confirmed in October 2013.

Anthony has been a bright and influential presence in San Pedro giving service to community vis a vis EVLL and was a co-founder of Scaliwag Productions (no longer active) that produced some great shows featuring young talent at the Warner Grand Theatre.
