To those who appreciate and value history, culture, ancestry:

“If we don’t save history today, we lose it for tomorrow….”
Financial help needed to produce SOLAHA Vol. VII

Background

SOLAHA is the first ever oral history project sponsored by Los Angeles County made possible through initial grant funding by Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, District 4; and individual and corporate sponsorship for the website. Co-produced by Jack Baric (also director) and Stephanie Mardesich filmed  under the banner of GameChange.

Volume I was filmed and debuted in 2018 and subsequent Vol. II-VI through 2025 with about over 60 participants resulting in nearly 300 stories.

Response to SOLAHA has been immense: positive and encouraging supporting preserving history. Through additional fundraising and generosity of sponsors the website was created where all stories are posted after making debut via internet. Link above – take a look at “Histories/Videos” and “Testimonials.”

Mission Statement

Stories Of Los Angeles Harbor Area: For Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow (SOLAHA) oral history project aims to preserve and share the wonderful history through recording via video taping individual stories, spontaneous and unscripted,  and memories of people who have participated in what  has made the Harbor area such a thriving community,  preserving what is inherent and inspire future generations to continue striving to make it a great place to live, work, and invest in as the area continues to progress.

Funding has been reduced ergo we have less than half of funds needed to produce Volume VII .
Fiscal support to continue this meaningful series to preserve history and film Volume VII (c. December 2025)  is vitally needed.

We have never asked participants to have to “pay” to participate though some have made donations that are appreciated. We are seeking financial support form current, past and future participants; and any and all individuals and businesses who believe in the project to preserve our collective history.

To contribute send check or m.o. to:
LA Harbor International Film Festival (for SOLAHA)
P.O. Box 5202, San Pedro, CA 90733

Thank you in advance for your consideration and hopefully donation.

With gratitude,
Stephanie Mardesich  & Jack Baric
