SOLAHA Vol. III, No. 4 Kathy (Vidovich) Carcamo
In honor of “prom season” enjoy this sweet story from San Pedro High School (SPHS) teacher and assistant athletic director Kathy (Vidovich) Carcamo revealing how she lead her students to organize and promote the special event “prom” for local senior citizens.
Kathy’s teaching career began in Hawthorne. She’s been at her alma mater SPHS (class of 1985) since 1994 and truly dedicated educator. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in physical education at Cal State Dominguez Hills and also has Master of Arts degree in Exercise Prescription. Personally I first knew Kathy when she taught aerobics at the YWCA and was the most inspiring “Amazon beauty” with her lovely smile, gracious manner and terrific figure!
With endless energy and community pride she volunteers with San Pedro Pirate Booster (VP Fundraising), SPHS Hall of Fame (board member), San Pedro Lady Booster (board member), Boys & Girls Club (Bids For Kids planning committee), Assistance League of San Pedro (advisory board), Dalmatian American Club Auxiliary(member and past president), and LA Fleet Week.
Kathy has been honored as Lions Club Humanitarian of the Year, Teacher of the Year by San Pedro Chamber of Commerce. She also served as SP Honorary Mayor.
Proud mother of Alexandra (also teacher at SPHS), and son Tanner (Fire Academy), she’s pure Croatian heritage and we’ll hear more great stories in coming weeks/months.
Dance on!
