Eve Perisich tells the story of discovering her roots when she went to study in Croatia, the birth country of her immigrant parents.
Eve was born and raised in San Pedro, of Croatian heritage from different mountain regions near coast: her father Matt Pericich from Poljica near Split, her mother Mary (Sarich) Pericich, whose parents were from Lika and emigrated to South Dakota, USA, and moved to California during the Great Depression.
Eve married a native of Croatia who emigrated to Canada (now divorced) and is proud mother of son Steven Grubisic.
She attended University of Southern California earning her Bachelor of Arts and in 1976 M.A. Masters Degree in Slavic Languages and Literature; and teaching credential. She is (mostly) fluent in Serbo-Croatian language
She had long career in education teaching in community college, San Pedro Adult Learning Center, Marymount College, Harbor Occupational Center; and also career counselor.
Eve has traveled and studied extensively in Europe and the Soviet Union.
In 2010 she was named among Women of Distinction, Arts and Culture Woman of the Year Finalist by Daily Breeze.
From 1989-1993 she performed in Zhena Folk Chorus/AVAZ International Dance Theater, Los Angeles. In 1988 she was Fulbright Memorial Fund Participant in Cultural exchange trip to Japan for educators.
In recent years she has distinguished herself as a significant artist and talented painter that includes one woman shows many acknowledgments and awards.
In 2024 Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, District 4 and Los Angeles City Councilman Tim McOsker, District 15 chose her collage Palisades to present to the USA Ambassador to Republic of Croatia Natalie Reyes as a a gift for President Zoran – link for news article below.
Eve is elegant, accomplished, and great supporter of Croatian and international culture.
