Simie Seaman –tells story of making Banning Museum cultural monument
Renowned photographer with photos on view through out South Bay community leader Simie Seaman recounts her effort to designate Banning Park a cultural monument by getting the neighborhood zoning changed to a historical overlay zone. Her impending research showed that the neighborhood was developed to provide housing for the employees of 20th Century business tycoons William Wrigley Jr. and Henry Ford.
Simie has resided in Wilmington, California near Banning Park for decades. She is a co-founder and President of Wilmington Historical Society , her involvement and credits in connection with Wilmington history preservation and promotion are extensive.
She is co-author of Images of America Wilmington photo anthology.
In 2024 the intersection of M Street & Banning Blvd. in Wilmington was designated Simie Seaman Square on recommendation of Councilman Tim McOsker, District 15 “One-Five”
