Lora Caudill, Principal Leland Street Elementary School helping military families
Educator Lora Caudill, native San Pedran, shares how as Principal of Leland Street Elementary School she was able involve and serve the large population of military family students at the second oldest elementary school in San Pedro; and explains some of the unique needs these students have.
Lora has been an educator and administrator with numerous positions throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for nearly 25 years. She began teaching fifth grade science, then promoted to Literacy Coach at Century Park Elementary in Inglewood, became Instructional Coach and Categorical Program Advisor at Cabrillo Avenue Elementary School and principal of Leland Street Elementary School (both in San Pedro) where she was commended for her work with military families and honored in Washington, D.D. She was promoted to Equity Director for LAUSD then returned to campus life currently principal of Van Deene STEAM Academy now magnate campus.
She is mother of 29 year old son Jay, fourth generation San Pedro High School graduate, currently working with LAUSD in “IT” and teenage daughter Samantha, excellent student, star volley ball player at SPHS John & Muriel Olguin magnate campus, and aspiring chef, soon college bount.
Lora has done more to further the needs and interests of students than can be accounted for. Her commitment to education, family and community is sincere, consistent and ever energetic. She received special recognition and commendation from County of Los Angeles and also honored in the nation’s Capitol Washington, D.C. for her contributions. She is the most positive role model for students and the population at large.
