SOLAHA Vol. III, No. 5 Dan Hoffman
Former executive director of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce (WCC) longtime community leader and advocate. Dan Hoffman tells the story of the transformation of Wilmington’s Dana Strand. Once a place that nobody dared visit, it is now a great example of providing affordable housing in a clean and safe environment.

Prior to his work with the WCC Chamber Dan had a career in the newspaper business working with (San Pedro) News Pilot and Daily Breeze (Copley News) starting as a truck driver. He went on to provide leadership in numerous capacities including five years as Circulation Manager for the News Pilot.

What attracted Dan to the WCC was their mission: “The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce promotes, supports and enhances a positive business environment and improves the quality of life in the community” and his dedication during his tenure truly lived up to that credo.

Dan and his wife Sue have lived in Wilmington for 48 years, where they have raised their three girls, and are active in the community and church. The Dana Strand story is a truly positive model for the entire region, if not State of California, and Dan is an excellent role model for all!
