Native San Pedran, Judi (Kanaster) Haase tells story of an outing with her girlfriends that got her in hot water at home when the event they snuck off to the Lions Club Fair and ended up on TV that was just burgeoning in late 1940s.
Retired teacher Judi matriculated through Leland and Seventh Street Elementary, Richard Henry Dana Junior and San Pedro High Schools; and earned bachelor of Science degree in education at University of Southern California. She taught elementary school in Los Angeles Unified School District for 25 years.
Her family history includes the men’s haberdashery “Kanisters For Men” that her father Lou founded and was patronized by gentlemen of the community who prized the tailor made suits and more.
With her lovely singing voice and thespian talent she appeared in many community theatre productions. In 2008 she created a special Molly Brown Soliloquy for the 5th an. LA Har. Int’l. Mother of two, grandmother of four she is all time advocate for the town and volunteers with the San Pedro Bay Historical Society; and at Kaiser hospital for over 26 years.
And she’s back on screen as “star” of the SOLAHA videos!
