Judi recalls the variety of shopping in downtown San Pedro in former times – men’s haberdashery including her family’s legacy “Kanaster’s” men’s apparel, owned and managed by her father and uncle, elegant ladies stores, charming children’s shops, Vine’s Music, refreshing lemon cokes like scenes from the popular TV shows “Ozzie & Harriet” or “Father Knows Best”.
Born and bred in San Pedro Judi matriculated through Leland and Seventh Street Elementary, Richard Henry Dana Junior and San Pedro High Schools; and earned bachelor of Science degree in education at University of Southern California. Now retired, she taught elementary school in LAUSD for 25 years. All time advocate for the town, she has also been a volunteer at Kaiser hospital for over 26 years.
She has a lovely singing voice and thespian talent featured in many community theatre productions. In 2008 she created a special Molly Brown Soliloquy for 5th an. LA Har. Int’l.
