Xavier Hermosillo tribute to his mother activist and court interpreter
Longtime San Pedro resident Xavier Hermosillo tells the story of how his mother who emigrated from Mexico, forged a path as a single parent that lead to the senior housing over 50 years ago, and inspired him to be an independent thinker who has been involved in numerous entrepreneurial ventures in his lifetime.
A proven problem-solver and a nationally recognized crisis management and crisis communications expert, a nationally certified mediator, a co-founder of two publicly-traded companies on the NYSE and NASDAQ stock exchanges, an award-winning print/radio/television journalist, and the creator of two LAPD community relations programs that are now the top national models. He also served for 20 years with Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) as a Discipline Hearing Examiner, and was Chief of Staff to both a Democrat California Assemblyman Vincent Thomas and Republican California Assemblyman Gerald Felando, Speaker Pro Tem of the California State Assembly in Sacramento.
Married to wife Shirley for 42 years they are proud parents of five grown children, all very accomplished. Xavier’s mother Blanca was the first ever court interpreter for Spanish/English.
