SOLAHA Vol. IV, No. 37  Danny Kadota reveals about fish availability, early sushi

Danny Kadota is former manager of the Crusty Crab, that was located by Ports of Call Village. He had sports fishing boats taking anglers out for the day and tells how sushi that is so much a part of contemporary cuisine  became popular decades ago.

Danny grew up in the Crenshaw area, attended Coliseum Street Elementary School, Audubon Jr High, Dorsey High School and I graduated from University of California San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and a minor degree in Sociology. He had family in SP and grew up always in the harbor visiting relatives; and worked and resided in San Pedro for decades.

From the age of four, his grandparents recognized my passion for fishing. Fishing kept him focused. He was active in sports, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts; and a church going family whose parents took active roles in leadership within all those organizations.

He spent years on the water as a sport fishing captain and owner of three boats that kept me away from home for long periods of time, so when he was preparing to marry he decided to retire, and made our home in San Pedro and I chose a career that would allow him come home every night. This new career was representing and consulting for many high end fishing tackle manufacturers. After many years in this capacity, he decided to start his own rod manufacturing company, Semper Fish Rods. He’s currently Founder and CEO of the  family run business.

Danny’s vitality and enthusiasm for fishing and the sea continues to thrive.
